Ferguson ObituaryFrom the Ouchita Telegraph, Monroe, LA. 1865-1889, Image 3

Mr. Sam D. Ferguson, formerly of the New Orleans commission form of Fellows, Ferguson & Hervey, died at his residence on Sicily Island, Catahoula parish, on the 3rd. Mr F., many years ago, was a printer and seeking work as such came to New Orleans where he took a case? in the Picayune office.

Subsequently he was employed in a commission house where he soon attained an enviable rank and a very large salary. The commision house of which he became a member, was established after the war, but went into liquidation last year. Since that event, Mr. Ferguson has not been actively employed. His urbanity, goodness of heart and true manliness won for him a host of devoted friends who will receive the sad tidings of his death with genuine sorrow and regret.

An insurance policy of $10,000, in full force, was left to his family.

[May have been the Sam Ferguson that married Silvia Brown on 29 Dec 1892 - Marsha's note]
