The Sentry April 6, 1906
Jere Green, colored, is quite a unique character among the colored pioneer 
settlers of East Carroll Parish.  Born in August 1841, at Port Gibson, Miss, 
he came to East Carroll when he was 12 years old and became a slave on the now 
Midland Plantation, on which he has been a resident for 53 years.  He is liked 
by all who know him for his quiet peaceable habits.
