After the War, Mr.
Sevier took postgraduate work at Columbia University. He returned to Tallulah
in 1921 and began his practice of law. He also entered politics and served
sixteen years as a member of the Louisiana State Legislature. He is now a
member of the National
Democratic Committee
from Louisiana and Chairman of the State Democratic Central Committee. Mr.
Sevier is also President of the Tallulah State Bank and Trust Company.
Mr. Sevier married
Retta Brooks of Tallulah on April 20, 1918. They have two daughters, one son,
and seven grandchildren. Their daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Sevier Yerger, has one
boy and two girls; the other, Mrs. Robert Sevier Gandy, has two girls: and
Henry C. Sevier, Junior, now a partner in his father's law firm, has two
daughters.
Mr. Sevier is a
member of the Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Rotary Club, a Mason,
and a member of the Blue Lodge in Tallulah.
His hobby is hunting.

Sevier, Sr. died June 1, 1974. His wife Retta died August 15, 1992. Both are
buried in Silver Cross Cemetery at Tallulah.
