Bro. Emanuel
"AKA Manuel" Bailey, Jr., age 58, was born in Sondheimer, LA. on November 10, 1958 to the union of Lucille Dismuke and Emanuel Bailey, Sr., who both preceded him in
death. One sister preceded him in death, Dorothy Ash.
Emanuel was affectionately called "Jim" by many friends. Emanuel went
to Public High School in Tallulah, LA.
On July 21, 2001, Emanuel was united in Holy Matrimony with Lenora Davis. They
moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 2001.
He joined Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in 2001, under the leadership
of the late Cecil Walker, Jr. He was the cook for the church until his health
started failing.
Emanuel worked with Fair Fax County School System for 18 years, where he was
the building supervisor. He also held a variety of jobs with Fort Belvoir in
Virginia for 3 years.
Arriving in Corpus Christi, he became employed by Texas A&M
University CCAS Supervisor of Facilities Services for five years. He was also
employed at St. John Baptist Church for 10 years as supervisor over building
maintenance. He worked for West Oso School District
for two years until his health started failing.
The memory of Emanuel will be cherished by all who know and loved him,
especially his nine loving children, Kimberly Curtis Walker, LA., Jimmie (Pertila) Bailey, SA. Texas, Tara
Riley, MI., Ramona Marshall, Corpus Christi, TX., Shaun Bailey, MI., La Nekka Carter, Corpus Christi, TX., Harrison Bailey, MI.,
David Coats, Jr., Alice, TX. and Sherronda
Martinez, VA. A host of grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
His loving sisters, Louise Henderson, LA., Patricia Bailey Jones, LA., Betty Kline,
LA., Laura Bailey, LA., stepbrother, Tommy Norton, LA., brother-in-law, Lorenzo
Davis, NY., Bobby (Linda) Davis, Sr., Corpus Christi, TX., Danny Davis, Corpus
Christi, TX., Sister in law, Beverly (Tommy) Cage, and Doris (Gentry)
Cleveland.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10,
2017 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a Prayer Service to follow that same
evening at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held from 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at
St. John 1st Baptist Church, 1620 N. Port Ave. Corpus Christi, TX. Service will
conclude at the church.
