Marshall
Pearce Bailey - Madison Parish, Louisiana
From Afterlife
on August 15, 2017
Sherman (Texas) – It is with great
sadness that the family of Marshall
Pearce Bailey announces his passing on August 13, 2017 at the age of 85,
after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Pearce will be lovingly
remembered by his wife, Ann of 32 years. Pearce loved his family very
much.
He is survived by his
brother, Robert Bailey; his son, Marshall Pearce Bailey
Jr.; daughter, Charlotte Bailey; grandchildren, Chad White, John Valdez,
and Tessa Marie Maynard; and 5 great-grandchildren. Pearce was born
September 24, 1931 in Bunkie, Louisiana to Robert Lee (Cutsie)
Bailey and Cora Cheney Pearce Bailey. Pearce was
very proud of his Louisiana heritage.
In May of 1953 Pearce
graduated from LSU School of Agriculture with a BS in Agri-Business
and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army (he entered LSU as a
military cadet). After his honorable discharge, Pearce worked at various
jobs including the Louisiana Department of Public Works, Delta Butane, Delta
Fertilizer, and Mid-South Chemical Company. He obtained his real estate license
and worked as a broker from 1978 to 1986.
With this knowledge,
he made many real estate and personal property investments. One of particular
interest was a concession trailer purchased in Canton and operated from 1987 to
1989, by both he and his wife, Ann. Pearce worked for the Small Business
Administration from 1989 to 1998.
In 1998, Bailey's
Berry Patch was formed. He and his wife, Ann, owned and operated their
blueberry business until 2010. Not to be idle with his time, Pearce
volunteered at Grand Central Station Soup Kitchen, Texoma
Medical Center, and Hagerman Wildlife Refuge.
Pearce's favorite hobbies
included Cajun cooking, gardening and woodworking. He was a member of the First
United Methodist Church in Sherman and enjoyed serving his church family. Pearce's
memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 19, in the main
sanctuary of First United Methodist Church located at 401 N. Elm Street in
Sherman, Texas 75090 with Reverend Samantha Parson officiating.
It is requested that
donations be made to the Pearce Bailey Memorial Fund at the First
United Methodist Church in Sherman. A brief reception will be held at the
church following the memorial service.
