Vernon M. Beckham, age 51, passed away at his home in Delta, LA on January
4, 2024. The home that he shared with his wife, Leslie Beckham.
He was born May 28, 1972. Vernon was the Water Supervisor of Delta, as
well as the assistant fire chief of the Delta Volunteer Fire Department. He
wore so many hats for the village that he was proud to call his home. Everyone
knew who to call when they had a problem to be fixed, it didn’t matter if it
was an issue with your water, your vehicle, sighting your gun in, pulling you
out of the mud, or putting some air in your tire, he was one of the first
numbers to call. The only thing he loved more than his community, was his
family and fishing.
Beckham is preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Allen “Snorkie”
Beckham, Frankie Ott and Sonny Etheridge and grandparents Jodie and Evelyn
Edleston.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Linda Ott, the love of his life,
his wife, Leslie Beckham, his children Zachary Barnes (Taylor), Ashley Beckham,
Kimberly Beckham, Katie Brewer (Devan), and Kathleen Barnes, his grandchildren
Madelyn and Mackenzie Mohler, Addison, Whitney and Ainsley Thompson, Layne and
Kason Brewer, Kyndall Barnes and Preston Barnes, his brothers David Beckham
(Nikki), John Johnson, and Douglas Ott, his sister Frederica Robinson (David)
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
with Bro. Randy Satterfield and Bro. Don Barber officiating. Burial will follow
at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lavon Parker, Devon Brewer, Tommie Edleston, James
Atcheson, Zachary Barnes and Codey Ott.
