Final Rites Held For
Miss Annette Beers
The
death of Miss Annette Beers, long time and beloved citizen of Tallulah, grieved
a host of friends here Saturday. Her death occurred in the Winnsboro, La.
nursing home at eleven-thirty Saturday evening.
Miss Beers was 85
years old. She was born January 25, 1874 in Natchitoches, La. Her father was
Dr. Robert Walker Beers and her mother was before her marriage, Miss Louise
Boissat of New Orleans, La.
She had one brother,
whom she survived, Mr. Eddie Beers, prominent banker and businessman here for
many years. She is survived by her devoted cousin, Mrs. Horace Lee and her
daughter, Mrs. Catchings Smith of Jackson, Miss., and another cousin, McWhorten
Beers of Laurel, Miss.
Miss Beers taught
school in Tallulah for many years, she was a graduate of Louisiana Normal
College at Natchitoches, Louisiana. After her retirement from school teaching
she taught her beloved subject, music, for many years and had a host of devoted
friends among her pupils. She was active in her church work and was organist
for many years of Trinity Episcopal Church. She is a past president of the
Tallulah Book Club and Music Department and this year was an honorary member of
both. She lived most of her life at her home on Mulberry Street and the many
courtesies shown her by her friends and neighbors attested to her sweet and
generous character.
Prayer family
services were held at the Crothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Mr. W. S. Spilman
officiating, and the Church Funeral services were held at Trinity Episcopal Church
Sunday afternoon at three-thirty.
The Rev. Mr. Spilman
conducted the services here and at the cemetery following. Altar flowers were
from Miss Beers' cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Catchings Smith.

W. L. Rountree, Mr. Don Sevier, Mr. Will Clark, Mr. Joe M. Clark, Mr. George
Marshall Weaver, Mr. W. W. Ziegler, Mr. W. P. Sevier and Mr. Woodrow

As befitted the final
services for a lover of music, background organ music was rendered at both
services.
