Lawrence Carl
Bingham, age 92, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 25, 2023.
Visitation will be held at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Highway 165 on Tuesday,
March 28, 2023, from 5 pm to 7 pm. The service will be held on Wednesday, March
29, 2023, at 10:00 at Swartz First Baptist Church with Rev. Jay George and
Chaplain Joe Rosales will officiate. Ms. Lynda Capps will serve as pianist.
Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Cemetery in Monroe.
Pallbearers will
include Brent Lancaster, Nate Lancaster, Johnny Clark, Reggie Skains, J. R.
Capps, Mark Leath and Shane Mock. Honorary pallbearers will be Swartz First
Baptist Church Deacons and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
Lawrence was born in
Richland Parish to Jewel Greenville and Lessie Marie (Fitzpatrick) Bingham. He
was the oldest of four children and grew up in West Carroll Parish. He was an
honor graduate of Forest High School and Southwest LA Institute (now ULL) with
a degree in Agriculture.
Lawrence served in
U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with several
medals and administrative commendations. Lawrence and his wife, Gloria, were
married upon his return from Korea.
Lawrence taught
Agriculture at Tallulah High school while sponsoring the Future Farmers of
America (FFA). He later worked as a Bank President for the Federal Land Bank.
Upon retiring from the bank, he was self-employed as a real estate broker and
agricultural appraiser until he retired at age 80.
Lawrence was preceded
in death by Gloria Ann Futrell Bingham (his wife of 68 years), his parents, his
siblings Pauline Bingham Alexander and A.M. Bingham; son-in-law Randell
Rollins; his wife’s parents A.D, Futrell, Sr. and Vaudiene (Dunn) Futrell;
brothers-in-law Robert Alexander, Robert Stapleton, Sterling Futrell, A.D.
Futrell, Jr.
He is survived by
three daughters, Pamela B. Lancaster, Carla D. Bingham (Rollins), Valerie Clark
and husband Johnny; two grandchildren, Emery K. Lancaster, Brent P. Lancaster
and wife Laura; two great- grandchildren, Leyton E. Lancaster and Nate P.
Lancaster; sister Florice B. Stapleton; sister-in-law Elizabeth V. Futrell;
nephews Larry Alexander and Michael Futrell; nieces Melanie (Alexander) Phifer,
Amy Alexander and Karen (Futrell) DeBusk.
