Ruby Delores Bowling - Madison Parish, Louisiana
Williams Funeral Home Mt. Pleasant, TN February 3, 2025

Ruby Delores Bowling, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful friend, passed away on February 2, 2025, at NHC-Walnut in Columbia, Tennessee. She was born in Tallulah, Louisiana, to the late Elmer and Lillian Rebecca Huckabay.

Ruby was known by all who loved her as kind, caring, and thoughtful. She had an immense artistic talent, capturing the world around her through drawing and sketching. One of her greatest joys was taking photos of her family and recreating them with her skilled hand. She also enjoyed puzzles and reading, always eager to challenge her mind and immerse herself in a good book.

She met the love of her life, John Bowling Sr., while working at Bell South. Their love story began at a dance at Barksdale Air Force Base, where he was stationed, and together, they built a beautiful life, raising two sons, Marty and Jamie. She and John were avid yard sale enthusiasts, always on the lookout for hidden treasures. Their faith was central to their lives, and they were deeply involved in their church community, dedicating their time to the "Blast" youth group at First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, where they joyfully prepared meals and shared their love for Christ.

A devoted Christian woman, Ruby lived her faith daily, demonstrating love and compassion in all she did. She found fulfillment in her career, first as a nurse tech at Brookdale and later at Impact Center, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and care.

Ruby is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, John Bowling Sr.; her son, Marty Bowling; her siblings, Barbara Huckabay Sanders and John Wayne Huckabay; and her parents.

Her loving legacy continues through her son, Jamie (Britney) Bowling; her cherished grandchildren, Scott Tucker Bowling, Campbell Bowling, Brittany Winstead, John Martin Bowling III, and Christopher Bowling; and her precious great-grandchildren, Blake, Karter, and Ryleigh Winstead. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Linda Huckabay Long and Shirley Huckabay Mitchell, as well as several nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and techs at NHC - Walnut for their compassionate care that was given to Ruby and to the family she formed there during her stay.

A service to honor and celebrate Ruby’s life will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Williams Funeral Home. Ruby will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Polk Memorial Gardens.
