Gainelle Whitley
Brewer left this life for her eternal home on January 18, 2021, while at St.
Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA after a brief illness. Mrs. Brewer was
born in Delhi, LA on March 21, 1952. She was laid to rest July 2, 2021 in
Silver Cross Cemetery, Tallulah, LA.
She was preceded in
death by her parents, Albert and Annie Simmons Whitley, one grandson and two
sisters, Tinny Whitley Mosley and Linny Whitley Allen, all of Tallulah. She is
survived by her husband, one son, one daughter, two granddaughters, one great
grandson, and one great granddaughter. She is also survived by two brothers,
A.J. (Wanda) Whitley of Tallulah and Cecil Whitley of St. Joseph, La. She is
survived by four sisters: Lottie Ann Whitley Coody of St. Joseph, LA, Betty
Whitley Price and Ruby Whitley Freeman (Gary) of Tallulah and Norma Whitley of
Amherst, VA. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Her lifelong friend,
Jewel Burris Ghrigsby, passed away May 24, 2021, just four months after
Gainelle. Forever friends are together again. Gainelle worked for Paul Meeks as
his first secretary when he started what is now Great Day, Inc. She also worked
for Carl Smith at Delta Community Action in Tallulah. She then worked as a
paraprofessional at Tallulah Elementary School.
Gainelle had many
hobbies including quilting. However, the love of her life was her
grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as her brothers and sisters.
She was loved by so
many and will be missed greatly. She was truly a very special person, Gainelle
Whitley Brewer.
