Frank
"Coach" Brocato Jr.- Madison Parish, Louisiana
From Times-Picayune
New Orleans,, LA April 2, 2023
Frank
"Coach" Brocato Jr., of Slidell, Louisiana, died peacefully on
Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the age of 85 after a yearlong battle with
dementia. He was a native of Ferriday, Louisiana, born on December 15, 1937.
Frank leaves behind,
to cherish his memories, three children, Anthony Brocato, Blake Brocato
(Andrea), and Mitchell Brocato (Krissy); four grandchildren, Caroline,
Alexandra, Kate, and Milla; siblings, Gloria, and Judie; and a host of extended
family and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 29
years, Carolyn Brocato; his son, Phillip Brocato; and his parents, Lydia Marie,
and Frank Brocato Sr.; and siblings, Joe, Tony, and Trish.
Frank Brocato was a
dedicated teacher and coach for 40 years. He wouldn't want anybody to be sad
about his passing. He had a lifetime full of achievements and experiences that
it would take most people several lifetimes to achieve. Frank was a member of
the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame as a player. He was
a two way starter for all four years of Ferriday High School's 56 game winning
streak back in the mid-1950s. He was the "Fastest Guard in the State"
as he would say. He went on from there to play college football and attended
LSU and Northwestern University, where he earned his degree in Biology. After
college, he began his coaching career, where he won 247 games and won too many
awards and championships to mention here. He was also a tennis coach and ran
the JTPA program. When time allowed, Frank loved to grow tomatoes, working out
at Cross Gates, and traveling to the Gulf Coast. All of those accomplishments
and life experiences along with countless others are wonderful, but for those
who knew Frank knew that the things he was the most proud of was being a
father, brother, and husband. He was loved dearly by his four sons, four
granddaughters, and five brothers and sisters.
The true love of his
life was Carolyn. He was so proud to have her as his wife. When she passed is
2002, a very large piece of Frank died with her. Frank wanted all his former
players, students, coworkers, and friends to know that he loved you all. All of
you helped him lead a very full and accomplished life. Those of you that are
feeling sad about his passing should take solace in the fact that he is where
he always wanted to be. He is with Mom now. They are both smiling down on us
wishing that you all would know the joy they feel from finally being reunited.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Frank's life on
Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in
Slidell. Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com.
Frank coached at Tallulah
High School for several years.
