Funeral
Services for Rev. Bobby Brown, 81, of West Monroe, LA will be held 10:00 A.M.,
Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Calhoun, LA with Rev. Neil
Everett officiating. Interment will be in New Winnsboro Cemetery in Winnsboro,
LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Bobby
was born July 31, 1933 in Winnsboro, LA and passed away June 13, 2015 in West
Monroe, LA. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Calhoun. Bobby was a
1951 graduate of Winnsboro High School and enjoyed participating in alumni
reunions. He loved to travel the United States by car, and visited the Holy
Land several times. In his younger years, he loved to hunt and fish.
"Brother
Bobby" was a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and
pastored for more than 50 years at churches in Winnsboro, Waverly, Tallulah,
Oak Grove, and West Monroe. One of his greatest joys in ministry was
ministering to people. He made numerous home, hospital, and nursing home
visits. He often visited or drove people to visits or medical appointments as
far away as Shreveport, Jackson, or New Orleans. During his career he
officiated hundreds of weddings and funerals. In retirement, he served as
hospice chaplain, a job he truly loved.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Clara Mae Brown; and his first
wife, Mildred Foy Brown. Survivors include his wife, Faye S. Brown; son, Alan
Brown and wife Donna; daughter, Ann Taylor and husband Charles; step-son, Wayne
Free and wife Deanna; grandchildren, Ryan Taylor, Chrissie Cascio and husband
Casey, and Casey Brown; step-grandchildren, Jason Robertson and wife Kristy,
Barry Free and wife Pam, Tiffany Free, and Ross Free; 4 great grandchildren;
and 5 step-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers
will be the Deacons at First Baptist Church of Calhoun. Visitation will be held
from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., June 16, 2015 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West
Monroe. The family wishes to thank The Terrace of West Monroe, Stoneybrook
Memory Care Home of West Monroe, as well as Karen Kaufman and Hospice Care
Resources of Winnsboro for their care.
Memorials
may be made to First Baptist Church Calhoun Building Fund, Alzheimer's
Association or Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
