Funeral services for
Henry "Sammy" Bullard, age 77, of Lake Providence, LA will be 3PM,
Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the Providence Worship Center in Lake Providence
with Rev. Don Boyett officiating. Interment will be
in the Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah. Services are under the direction of
Cox Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at Cox
Funeral Home.
He is preceded in
death by his parents, Doler Bullard and Bennie Mae
Booth Bullard; sister, Olla Jane
Bullard; brother, Winfred Bullard Sr.; father and mother-in-law, Sonny and
Muriel Meredith; brother-in-laws, Marzell Melton,
Billy and Jimmy Meredith.
Sammy and Joan were
active members of Providence Worship Center. Immediately after marriage Sammy
served in the U.S. Army for two years. Working for the USDA Soil Conservation
Service, Sammy retired at an early age. He loved working with his hands and
staying busy so he later took a position with the Secretary of State. Sammy
greatly enjoyed participating in Track and Field both through his high school
years and later in life. He loved sharing those memories with everyone who
would listen. Sammy will be remembered for his humor, for the stories that he
loved to tell, and for his service and devotion to his family and community.
Sammy is survived by
his wife of 53 years, Joan Marie Bullard of Lake Providence, LA; son, David
Bullard of Lake Providence, LA; daughter-in-law, Regina Bullard of Oak Grove,
LA; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Marie Satre and
Carey Satre of West Monroe, LA; three grandchildren,
Brandon Pylant and wife Ashley, Bayleigh
Pylant, and Carah Satre, all of West Monroe, LA; two great-grandchildren,
Elizabeth Pylant and Hayleigh
Pylant of West Monroe, LA; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Bobby Bullard and wife Kathy of Carthage, TX, Pat Bullard and
wife Libby of Tallulah, LA, Oward Bullard and wife
Geneva of Blyville, AR; sister, Audrey Melton of
Vidalia, LA; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia Caviness
and husband Howard of Delhi, LA; brother-in-law, Ray Meredith and wife Cathy of
Baton Rouge, La; sister-in-laws, Libby Meredith of Rogers, AR and Patsy
Meredith of oak Grove, LA; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be
Dale Miller, Stewart Patrick, Lamar Perry, Phillip Tomlinson, Phil Tomlinson, Chris Boyett.
Honorary pallbearers
will be David Smith, Larry Brock, Gene Haley, Gene Edmonson, Leroy
Hendrix.
