Albert Philip Butler -
Madison Parish, Louisiana
From The Times-Picayune
New Orleans, LA March 7, 2023
Albert Philip Butler, 1939-2023.
Albert Butler, 83,
passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023. Albert was born in New Orleans and
was raised by close relatives, Walter and Helen Butler. Albert lived the
majority of his childhood in Tallulah, Louisiana where he attended Tallulah
High School.
Albert met his lovely
wife Barbara Butler at 17 years old and they were married in New Orleans in
1961.
Albert loyally served
our country in the U.S. Air Force. His love for flying led him to a career as a
flight engineer, flight instructor, and agriculture pilot. He continued flying
as a hobby and enjoyed the camaraderie he found in the flying community.
Pop had an infectious
smile and an unforgettable laugh. With a great sense of humor, Albert was a joy
to be around. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Barbara and most often took
the back roads to "enjoy the view" of the country he served and
loved.
Albert, also known as
Pop/Poppa/Grandpa, will be greatly missed. He is survived by his son Albert P.
Butler Jr. and wife Christine P. Butler of Bossier City, LA; his daughter
Monique Rutherford and husband Tim Rutherford of Nesbit, MS; daughter Renee
Kaufman and husband Herb Kaufman of New Orleans, LA and his siblings William
"Peck" Butler (Barbara) Butler of Belle Chasse, LA and Kay Butler of
Panama.
He is predeceased by
his son Walter A. Butler and his loving wife Barbara Butler.
Albert is also
survived by his beloved grandchildren, Nikki and Matt Buckle, Shelly and Mike
Clopper, Shelby and Elliot Broger, Phoenix Butler, Zoe Butler, Kegan and Jordan
Smallwood, Logan Kaufman, and Samantha Rutherford. Albert also leaves behind
his four great-grandchildren, Lucie Smallwood, Josiah Smallwood, Kaden Clopper,
and Sadie Clopper.
