CAMPBELL John P.
Campbell, retired former Area Production Manager for Gulf Oil Company and a
resident of Slidell, LA since 1973,
passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the age of 84. He was a native of
Ingleside, MS, and was prededed in death by his
wonderful parents, J.P. and Erma Campbell of Roxie, MS, and by his loving and
devoted wife for 55 years, Gail Whitney Campbell,
formerly of Baton Rouge, La.
He is survived by his three fantastic
sons and their families, Roy and Susan Campbell of Kimberling City, MO., Jeff
and Margaret Campbell
of Pontchatoula, La., Steve and Julie Campbell of
Slidell, and his nine grandchildren; Aaron, Anny, Buck, Jana, Mary, Sarah,
Jason, Kyle
and Whitney.
John graduated from Tallulah
LA High School in 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately. He
served two years in the Navy with his
last assignment being as a radarman aboard the
aircraft carrier U.S.S. Cape Glouster, CVE 109 in the
Pacific Theatre. He graduated from
L.S.U. with a B S degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1950 and he and Gail were
married one year later. The next 34 years were spent
working for several companies in various states, the
last 22 were with Gulf Oil.
After retiring in 1985, he and Gail began a more relaxed lifestyle enjoying
family, friends, attending and serving First United Methodist Church
and traveling. Their favorite trips were to L.S.U. football games, at home and
away. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the
Funeral Services at First United Methodist Church, 433 Erlanger Avenue,
Slidell, LA, on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. Rev.
Wybra J. Price, II, church pastor, officiating.
Interment will be private in Biloxi National Cemetery on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010.
Visitation at the
church on Wednesday after 11:00 A.M. until funeral time. Donations to First United Methodist Church or the charity of your
choice, preferred,
