Mr. John Mark
Christian passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at River Oaks Hospital in
Flowood, Mississippi, after a heart attack at the age of 81. A visitation for
Mr. Christian will be held Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral
Home in Tallulah, Louisiana, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A family graveside
service will be held Monday, March 15, 2021, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in
Logansport, Louisiana, under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
John was born April 19, 1939, in Mansfield,
Louisiana, to Moss and Opal Christian. He was raised in Tallulah, Louisiana,
with his two older brothers, Merlin, who is deceased (Doris-deceased), and
William “Bill” (Sybil). He was educated at Tallulah High School, Brusly High
School, and Northeast Louisiana University. He was a US Army veteran and
lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Tallulah, where he served as a
deacon. Mr. Christian had great pride in his family business, Christian Pest
Control. He loved LSU and Saints football, riding his Harley, traveling the
United States and, most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife and childhood
sweetheart, Mary “Polly” Moore Christian; son, John Moss Christian (MJ),
grandchild Joshua and great grandchild Asa, grandchildren Jacob, Jordan, and
Justin; daughter, Autumn Gray (Charlie), grandchild Joanna Huckabay (JJ), great
grandchildern Marissa, T-Ray, Baylis, Ethan, and Kate, grandson Jason Gray
(Kelly), great grandchildren Shaymus, Maci, and Delaney; son, Stephen Christian
(Becki), grandchildren Emma Bell (Josh), Opal, and Zoe; daughter April Harris
(Bill), granddaughter Christian; son, Greg Barwick (Cheryl), grandchildren
Brandi and Raylee, great grandchild Brynlee, and grandchild Shelby; daughter,
Mechale Mayfield (David), grandson Austin, great grandchild Hunter, and
grandson Colton; son Todd Barwick (Jennifer), grandchildren Ethan, Angela
Sparks (Walker), great grandchildren Braden and Colton; his loving and faithful
poodle, Prissy; and numerous wonderful and loving nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry
Wilson, Anthony Moore, George Sheppard, Lamar Walters, Rick Kivett, and
“Shorty” Erwin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Humane Society.
