88 Years Old
Carolyn Reece Collins, born on March 20, 1936, in Arkansas, passed away on
July 31, 2024, in Greenville, Mississippi, at the age of 88. A longtime
resident and respected office manager at the Tallulah Water Company, Carolyn
was known for her intelligence, hard work, and artistic spirit.
Carolyn had a lifelong passion for painting, which she pursued fervently
alongside her career. Her love for art was matched with an equally strong
dedication to her family, with whom she cherished spending her time. She was
also an active member of her local garden club and enjoyed keeping up with the
latest fashion trends, shopping, and traveling.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Leasie “Lisa” Travis;
grandchildren, Mia (Joey) Barrett, Pamela Mahoney, Johnnie “JR” Collins, III;
great-grandchildren, Dustyn Applewhite, Madeline Saulter (Garrett Necaise),
Jaden Barrett, Liam Collins, Presley Mahoney, Josh, Jake, and Jessie Barrett;
and great-great-grandchildren, Levi Necaise, Jedidiah and Frances Barrett.
Carolyn also leaves behind her siblings, Addie (George) Wilhelmi, David Reece,
Virginia Mangrum, and sister-in-law, Barbra Reece, brother-in-law, Grandville
Harris, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rasberry Reece and Beulah
Sullivan Reece; her son, Johnnie Raymond Collins, II; and siblings, James
Reece, Clyde Reece, Peewee Reece, Betty Reece Harris, John Reece, Rickie Reece;
and nephew, Clifford Mangrum.
Services will be held at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home, 2 Crothers Drive,
Tallulah, Louisiana, 71282, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 1:30 PM. A
graveside service will be held at a later date. Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home
is assisting the family with arrangements. Carolyn’s life and legacy will be
remembered fondly by all who knew her.
