Bobbe Lea Holt Cox, passed away shortly after midnight on Friday, February 7, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents Russell R. “Happy” Holt and Mary M. “Mamie” Eaker Holt, aunts Bobbe Holt and Polly Holt, brother Russell G. “Buster” Holt, and nephew Scott Holt.

She is survived by her husband Gene M. Cox; son Chris Cox; son Craig Cox (Stephanie); grandchildren Brandon Cox, Christy Cox, Marjorie Cox, Elizabeth Martin Stanley (Daniel), Albert Martin (Lindsey); great-grandchildren Logue Flowers, Vivien Stanley, Helen Stanley, Mary Martin Stanley, Charlotte Martin, Christian Martin, and Peyton Martin; and sisters Bonnie Holt King (Bill), Brenda Holt Montgomery (Al), and Beverly Holt Diaz (Ted).

Bobbe was born on November 18, 1942, in Tallulah, Louisiana. Bobbe and Gene met in high school; they married on June 24, 1961. Their eldest son, Chris, was born in March 1962, and Craig followed shortly after in December 1963.

Bobbe and Gene owned the local hardware store, Western Auto, for 43 years where they became well-beloved figures in the community before selling in 2005. After selling Western Auto, she worked at the front desk of Madison Parish Hospital and later as a secretary for Judge Michael Lancaster.

Bobbe was a phenomenal cook and always loved to host her friends and family, greeting them at the door with a smile. She doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always inviting them for a swim and making them far too many snacks. Everyone loved her sincerity and warmheartedness - she was well-known for having a kind word for all who knew her.

The family extends their love to Bobbe’s caretaker Angela Beard; we also thank the staff at Legacy Nursing Home, Crossroads Hospice (particularly Brandy Henson, Mary Beth Westmoreland, and Brenda Whitney); Dr. Corey Albritton; and Dr. T. A. Neumann. We deeply appreciate the love and compassion she was shown by all who cared for her in her remaining years.

Bobbe’s grandsons Albert Martin, Brandon Cox, and Daniel Stanley; nephew Russell Holt; and family friends Brad Gustafson and Steve Gustafson will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to Tallulah Academy, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or your church of choice.
