From Alsip &
Person Funeral Chapel Nampa, ID April 12, 2018
Henry Warren Cumpton,
81, died peacefully in his sleep on January 12, 2018 at a Nampa care center.
Warren was born on July 3, 1936 in Tallulah, Louisiana and lived in Madison
Parish until his family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee in 1942. He spent his
secondary school years there. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve in the early
1950's and eventually joined the Navy as a Seabee for a tour of duty lasting 12
years. Warren worked in the construction field during the latter half of his
life. He married Myrna Lee Taggart on September 17, 1959; their first child,
Benjamin Warren Cumpton, was born on March 13, 1962.
A second child, Thomas Patrick Cumpton, was born four
years later on March 17, 1966.
Warren loved spending time in the outdoors, including spending time hunting and
fishing, as well as light reading. On one occasion, he went fishing with his
father-in-law and caught a 36" steelhead trout, which was promptly cleaned
an eaten by the entire family.
Warren was preceded in death by his father, Henry Best Cumpton,
his mother, Beaulah Mae Cumpton
(nee' Pittman), and his brothers Melvin Ray and Dennis. He is survived by his
wife, two sons, brother Kenneth and wife Nettie, sister Myra Voyles and her husband James, sister Patsy Zacharias and
her husband Roy, three grandchildren (Alyssa, Dylan, and Foster), and numerous
nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 9:00AM Thursday, April 19,
2018 at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held
10:00AM Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
The Cumpton family would like to extend sincere
thanks to the care staff at Meadow View Nursing and Rehab in Nampa for making
Warren comfortable in his final years.
