Ada Iva DeWeese of
Tallulah, Louisiana, entered into God’s kingdom on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the
age of 81. She was born Ada Iva McMichael on April 1, 1942, in Cooter Point,
Louisiana, to William Henry and Annie Myrtis Adcock McMichael.
If there was ever a
person that left a mark, it was Ada Iva. To know her was to absolutely love
her. If you didn’t have the opportunity to know Ada, you missed out. She’s the
only person on the planet that lived up to having an “April Fool’s Birthday”.
God definitely picked the most suiting day for this girl to be born. She never
met a stranger. She had the biggest mouth and heart of anybody. She spoke her
mind. She had the most inappropriate comments and stories that nobody else
could have gotten away with telling. She loved to argue. She lit up a room. She
had the prettiest smile. She had the funniest personality. She loved and she
loved big, and most of all, she adored her family. She was so proud of her kids
and grandkids.
Ada was a retired
cafeteria worker and waitress. She worked at almost every restaurant in
Tallulah and was loved by all who met her.
Ada is preceded in
death by her parents, William Henry and Annie Myrtis Adcock McMichael; husband,
James Edgar DeWeese; brothers, Lewis McMichael, Homer McMichael, Pete
McMichael, Billy McMichael, and William Henry McMichael; sisters, Grace
Tolbert, Beatrice Barefeild, Ora Klienman, and Sarah Jones; and son-in-law,
Elmer Busby.
Ada is survived by
two sons, Bill DeWeese and wife, Tina, and Don DeWeese and wife, Paula; one
daughter, Debbie DeWeese Busby; five grandchildren, Lacy Chandler, Bill
DeWeese, Eric Busby, Dezarae Peeples, and Vanessa Staton; six
great-grandchildren, Colby Smith, Hayden DeWeese, Waylon DeWeese, Scarlett
DeWeese, Everett Peeples, and Sam Peeples; one sister, Clara Fisette of Sumter,
South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be
James William “Bill” DeWeese, II, Eric Busby, Brett Peeples, Rustin Staton,
Colby Smith, Brian Matlock, and Hayden DeWeese.
