James William “Bill” DeWeese - Madison Parish, Louisiana
Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home Tallulah, LA August 30, 2024
July 8, 1961 ~ August 28, 2024 63 Years Old

Bill went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 8:42 PM, at the age of 63. He was met by his mom “Ada”, brother “Don”, and his daddy “Ed”. We know in our hearts it was a great reunion!!

Bill was born July 8, 1961, in Delhi, Louisiana. He was an avid outdoorsman. He fished with Tallulah Bass Club for more years than we can count. He loved to play golf with his buddies, you know who you are. He was most at home when he was outdoors. Big Bill worked with Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office for many years. Bill also worked as a body man with his father-in-law (Larry) all his life. Bill thought of Larry Jones as a true father and enjoyed every minute of the time they spent together. He had a true servant's heart and helped anyone; it didn’t matter the situation. He’d give you the shirt right off his back if he had to. He was known around town as either Duke, Dookey or Bondo. He truly never met a stranger and never denied anyone friendship or help.

The Apple of his eyes were always his children and grandchildren:

Lacy-Wife Jenna and Lil Bill-Wife Anne

Grandchildren: Colby, Hayden, Waylon and Scarlett

He loved all his family; he was the great protector of all. His sister, Debbie, was his first true love! He loved her husband, Elmer, as much as he did her. Big Bill adored her boys most of all, Eric, Jeff, Joey, David and Shannon. They all hunted and fished together for many years. He was Donald Ray’s protector, and you just knew better than to mess with him. Donald Ray’s wife, Paula, and daughters, Dezarae’ (Brett) and Vanessa (Rustin) were also a great joy to Big Bill. He loved them tremendously.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Ed DeWeese and Ada DeWeese; brother, Donald Ray DeWeese; brother-in-law, Elmer Lee Busby; grandparents, Nannie Ophelia and James Carroll DeWeese and Annie Myrtis Adcock and William Henry McMichael; and aunt, Fern DeWeese.

Bill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Tina Jones DeWeese; daughter, Lacy Adams; son, Bill DeWeese; sister, Deborah DeWeese Busby; grandchildren, Colby Wade Smith, Hayden Parker DeWeese, Waylon James DeWeese, and Scarlett Belle DeWeese; numerous nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; a father-in-law; and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Bill will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Crothers Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana, with Bro. Jimbo Herring officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.

Pallbearers will be Frank McKinney, Robbie Watkins, Walter Cobb, Buddy Saunier, Larry Jones, Jr., and Jack Eakes.
