Dorothy Sue Pierce Goza passed away on
February 14, 2021, in Bossier City, Louisiana, at the age of 94. Funeral
services for her will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at
Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana, with Rev. Henry Stone
officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the
direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
Sue was born in
Warren, Arkansas, on July 24, 1926, to Eugene and Aurelia Brown Pierce. She
grew up in Warren before moving to Memphis, Tennessee, where she graduated from
Whitehaven High School in 1944. After graduating Sue, her sister, Betty,
and other classmates moved to Washington D. C. and worked for the
Department of the Navy until 1945. In 1947, Sue moved to Tallulah,
Louisiana, when she married Jeff Windham Goza (1925 - 1999). They were married
for 52 years. She worked for 25 years at Loe Equipment Company and later at the
Madison Parish Police Jury Office before retiring. Sue was a member of the
First United Methodist Church of Tallulah and the Order of the Eastern
Star. She was active in several bridge groups. In 2014, she moved
to Bossier City to be near her family.
Sue is survived by
her son, Bob Goza and daughter-in-law Tain, grandchildren, Patrick Goza
(Katie) and Megan Goza Vong (Jan Michael), and great grandson, Michael
Pierce, as well as her daughter, Nancy Nash, grandson, Eric Nash (Samia)
and great granddaughters, Ally and Maddie. She is also survived by her
sisters, Betty Lancaster and Patricia Warrick, her sister-in-law, Peggy Goza,
and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Family wishes to
thank the staff at Pilgrim Manor for their devoted care over the last
two years.
In lieu of flowers,
the family requests that memorials be made in Sue’s memory to The First United Methodist
Church Tallulah at 300 Cedar Street, P.O. Box 88, Tallulah, LA 71282.
