Garry Martin Gunn
passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the age of 69 at University of Mississippi
Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, following a brief illness.
Garry was born
November 15, 1952, to Odis and Doris Gunn in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Garry lived
all his life in Tallulah. He was a 1970 graduate of Tallulah High School and
will forever be a THS Trojan!
Garry attended
Northeast Louisiana University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree
in Pharmacy which was later known as a PharmD.
Garry, along with his
parents, owned and operated Bloom’s Drug Company where he was a pharmacist
until his retirement in 1999. After his retirement from pharmacy, Garry worked
at Madison Parish Hospital until the age of retirement,
Garry is preceded in
death by his parents, Odis M. Gunn and Doris Parker Gunn.
Garry is survived by
his wife of almost 27 years, Becky Roy Gunn of Tallulah, Louisiana; children,
Brandi Gunn Heard and husband Derek of Tallulah, Louisiana, and April Jones and
boyfriend Michael Coody of Tallulah, Louisiana; grandchildren, Summer Katherine
Heard, Derek Parker Heard, and Kimber Lynn Baur, all of Tallulah; brother, Keith
Gunn and girlfriend Vickie Lytle of Beaumont, Texas; one nephew, Michael Gunn
of Junction City, Kansas; one great niece, Cypress Jade Gunn of Junction City,
Kansas; two aunts, Irma Parker and Elizabeth Parker; a great many cousins; a
multitude of friends; and his very special companion, Sparky.
Garry will forever be
remembered for his glowing smile and a Geaux Tigahs!!
Funeral services for
Garry will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 6, 2022, at First Baptist Church in
Tallulah with Bro. Martin Parker and Bro. Jason Lupo officiating. Visitation
will begin at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow the funeral service at Silver Cross
Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in
Tallulah.
Pallbearers will be
Graling Averett, Seth Nichols, Ryman Busby, Joe Jobe, Ronnie Parker, Charles
Musgrove, and Thurman Hudson. Honorary pallbearers will be Hollis Ervin, Eddie
Hattaway, Everett “Doc” Stroop, Ramond
Carter, Ted Busby, Paul Harrop, George Glass, and Billy “Bubba” Barefield.
