JoAnn went to be with her Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ, on December 30, 2014. She is survived by her loving husband of 51
years, John; and her greatest achievements are a loving daughter and son, Lori Wardlow and Todd Hagan. Lori and son-in-law Brian Wardlow of Nebraska are the parents of two precious
granddaughters - Madeline and Natalie Wardlow. Todd
and daughter-in-law Liz Hagan of Colorado are the parents of two precious
grandsons - Grant and Blake Hagan. Mother, Juanita French;
four brothers, Luke and sister-in-law Joanne French, Steve and sister-in-law
Ann French, Donald French, Dennis and sister-in-law Sherry French; two sisters,
Lizz King and Margie Mixon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Joseph French, and brother, Carl
French.
JoAnn was born to Joe (deceased) and Juanita French. She grew up in Louisiana
on a cotton farm with her seven siblings. She attended the University of
Louisiana at Monroe, LA, graduating with B.S. degree.
JoAnn, in her career as an accountant, was employed by the Forest Service and
the Department of the Interior (DOI) - Minerals Management Service and the
Office of Surface Management. JoAnn retired in 2002, working 36 1/2 years. She
opened doors for women in professional positions in the federal government. She
was the first woman hired by the Forest Service in Region 2 in a professional position
in 1965. JoAnn was awarded the Distinguished Service Award, the highest award
an employee of DOI can receive. She also received the Meritorious Award from
the Department of the Interior.
A memorial service will be held at 10am on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at
Southern Gables Church, 4001 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Littleton, CO 80123.
The family requests that contributions be made to Rocky Mountain ALS (www.alscolorado.org) or the Denver Hospice (www.thedenverhospice.org) in lieu of flowers. The family wishes
to thank the Denver Hospice team who cared for her.
(JoAnn graduated from
Tallulah High School in 1961.)
