TALLULAH —
Funeral services for Mr. Lonnie F. Heard III, age 73, of Tallulah will be held
at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011, in the First Baptist Church in Tallulah
with the Rev. John W. Rushing and the Rev. Martin Parker officiating. Burial
will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of
Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be today, April 1, 2011, at the funeral home from 5 until 7
p.m.
Mr. Heard died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at his residence. He was born in
Lexington, Miss., and had lived in Tallulah for more than 19 years. He retired
from the U.S. Army after serving more than 25 years and had retired from the
Vicksburg Warren School District after serving as the JROTC instructor for more
than 26 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Francis Heard; and a
brother, Tommy Heard.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Heard of Tallulah; two sons, Fred Heard and
wife Nina and Derek Heard; one daughter, Remonda
Phelps and husband Robert; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s or the American Cancer
Society.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Hicks, Drew Henson, Frank Maxwell, Steve Mayberry,
Alan Frey and Cloyd White.
