Isaiah 40:31 states, “But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Jeff Holloway waited almost 40 years for his strength to be renewed…and today he runs again and is not weary.

William Jefferson “Jeff” Holloway was born July 31, 1951 to J. W. & Margie Holloway of Delhi. He passed peacefully from this life at his home on November 9, 2010, surrounded by his family. Funeral services honoring his life will be held Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro, with internment following at the Crowville Masonic Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Todd Perry and Bro. Marion Collier. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews Steven Franklin, Jason Franklin, Paul Crawford, and Randall Crawford; and Darren Green, Jim Peppers, Stanley Ogden, and Carl Ward. Emmit Sparks, Charlie Sanders, and Chris Capozzoli will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Jeff was preceded in death earlier this year by both his mother, Margie Carter Holloway; and his brother-in-law, Tommy Franklin. He is survived by his father, J. W. Holloway; sister, Jimmie Lynn Holloway Franklin; niece Shelly Franklin Crawford, husband Paul, and Anna & Randall; nephews Steven Franklin, wife Angie, and Emily & Katie, all of Delhi; and Jason Franklin, wife Jennifer, and Collier of Monroe; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

Jeff attended Crowville High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps soon after his graduation in 1969. He was honorably discharged in 1971 following a tour of duty in Vietnam. Soon after his return home and enrollment in college, Jeff was critically injured in a motorcycle accident in December of that same year. His injuries left him a quadriplegic. Although Jeff was able to lead an active life for a number of years after his accident, his health had progressively declined over the last several years, limiting his ability to participate in activities he enjoyed. He was able to remain in his own home all these years because of the dedicated care provided him by his parents, his brother-in-law Tommy Franklin, and most recently by his nephews and the staff of Delhi Homecare. He looked forward to visits with friends and family and was well versed in a number of subjects, including global political issues. Jeff’s strength and courage in the face of such dire adversity will serve as an inspiration for all to carry throughout the years of our lives. The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to organizations supporting spinal cord research or to veterans’ groups, two issues dear to Jeff’s heart.
