Ted John Ivey
August 5, 1928 - February 22, 2017
Ted John Ivey passed away Wednesday,
February 22, 2017, at the Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah, La. He was born
in McComb, Ms., on August 5, 1928, to Era Estess Ivey
and Ted Leroy Ivey. After leaving McComb, Ted served his country in the United
States Air Force from 1951 to 1954. He then relocated to Tallulah, La., working
for GMAC and completed his business degree at Northeast Louisiana University.
He then spent the next 40 years as Manager of Tallulah Finance Company,
retiring in 1996.
He was preceded in death by his parents. His survivors include his loving wife
Jean E. Ivey, his faithful canine companion Casey, daughters Janis K. Ivey of Centerton, Ar., Traci Ivey Walz
and husband Bruce of Rogers, Ar., Lori Devenney and
husband Brent of Essex, Vt., and son R. Todd Ivey of Houston, Tx. Other survivors include 7
grandchildren-Emily Amadon and husband Taylor, Adam Hile, Abby Hile, Kaitlin Devenney, Carter Devenney, Ryan Devenney, and Annika Devenney, 8 granddogs-Toby,
Atticus, Chloe, Bella, Murphy, Samantha, Annabelle, and Lucy, 1 grandcat-Sam, and 3 great granddogs-Ellie,
Esther, and Cesar. (What a family!)
Ted was a man with a great love for the people and the city of Tallulah. He
proudly served as alderman and mayor pro tem for the city as well as justice of
the peace for the district. He was a long standing member of the Rotary Club
and First Baptist Church of Tallulah.
Ted was also known for his gregarious demeanor, quick wit, and infectious
smile. Although a big fan of the beaches of Jekyll Island, Ga., his major love
was golfing. He was a member of the Tallulah Country Club and often could be found
on the greens during his time away from work.
The family would like to thank Dr. Leonard "Pops" Neumann, the staff
of Madison Parish Hospital, and the staff of Collins Haworth Home Health for
their excellent and compassionate care.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 28 at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home
at 10:00 am with the service following at 11:00 am.
