Brutus Nolan Jackson, Jr. of Jersey
Village, Texas went to his eternal rest on Thursday, August 8, 2019 after four
and a half months of illness.
Brutus was born in
Newellton, Louisiana. He attended grade school and high school in Tallulah, LA.
He received his Bachelors degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA
and his Masters of Business Administration from Texas Southern University.
Brutus served in the US Army and was stationed in Tacoma, Washington where he
met and married his wife, Anne Spriggs. Into this
union was born three children.
Brutus worked at
Prairie View A&M University as Athletic Director and Director of Placement
Services. He later worked at Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City,
North Carolina as Director of Placement and Career Education, until he retired.
While living in North Carolina, Brutus was baptized into the Catholic Church.
He served on the Pastoral Council of Holy Family Church. He became a Fourth
Degree knight of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Grubitz
Council #2279.
Brutus was preceded
in death by his parents, Brutus, Sr. and Annalette
Jackson and sister Jacqueline Fortson. He is survived by his wife of 56 years,
Anne Jackson; children Brutus “Nolan”lll (Silvia),
Joseph Patrick (Chemene), Madelyn Anne and Christina Anneice (Lance); grandchildren; Taylar,
Morgan, Kaelon, Byron, Lauryn,
Zachary, Joshua, Jordan, Jessica, and Isabella; two great grandchildren,
Brandon and Roman; two brothers, Noland Smith (Augusta), and Tommy Tunson and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be
Saturday, August 17, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will follow
immediately at 1:30 PM. All services will be held at St. Maximilian Kolbe
Catholic Church, 10135 West Road, Houston, 77064. Interment will be at held on
Monday, August 19 at 10:15 AM at Houston National Cemetery.
