Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home Tallulah, LA June 23, 2024

December 10, 1933 ~ June 16, 2024 90 Years Old

Funeral services for Mr. Clifton Ray Jobe, Sr., age 90, will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, June 20, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Tallulah, Louisiana, with Bro. Bill Davis and Chaplin John Skinner officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

Mr. Ray passed away in peace surrounded by family and friends on June 16, 2024, at his home in Tallulah following a brief illness. Ray was born on December 10, 1933, in Tallulah, Louisiana, to Jimmy and Lillie Mae Jobe. Tallulah has been his home for over 90 years. Mr. Ray served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. Upon returning from Germany, he worked at Chicago Mill until it closed. Next, Ray went to work for Crawford Feed and Seed where he also stayed until it closed. Ray also worked at Delta Hardware until closing. He then worked part-time at Home Hardware. In addition to his other jobs, he also worked for Texas Refinery.

He was married to Peggy Ghrigsby Jobe for 59 years and raised four boys. In his spare time, he enjoyed being a gunsmith, hunting with his boys, and being the chaplain for American Legions of Tallulah. Ray loved raising a garden, in which he fed the local community. He served as deacon of First Baptist Church of Tallulah and sang with the Brushy Bayou Boys. Ray was a faithful servant of the Lord, who will be missed and loved by all he touched. He opened his home to many over the years, and he will be greatly missed.

Mr. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Lillie Mae Jobe; his wife, Peggy Jobe; brothers, Sonny Jobe, Tommy Jobe, and Robert “Rabbit” Jobe; sisters, Kathleen Marshall, Erma Lee Carrender, Nellie Simmons, Marie Castle, Melva Jean Jobe, and Jennie Wilhite; and grandson, Matthew Jobe.

Mr. Ray is survived by sons, Clifton Jobe, Joe Jobe, Jimmy Jobe, and Tim Jobe (Suszonne); sister, Linda Vines (Huey) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; sister-in-law, Deani Piekarski (Ron) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Ghrigsby (Lorraine) of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Herman Ghrigsby and Larry Ghrigsby both of Tallulah, Louisiana; grandchildren, Kayla Jobe Lee (Alan), Tiffany Jobe, Deidra Brown (Jr), Sara Jobe, Stephen Jobe, Joshua Jobe (Chelsea), Seth Jobe (Haylee), Tristan Street (Ashlie), and Taylor Brumley (Gavin).

Pallbearers will be Tristan Street, Seth Jobe, Stephen Jobe, Joshua Jobe, Jr Brown, Todd Moore, and David Ghrigsby. Honorary pallbearers will be Lamar Walters, Larry Bowls, and American Legion Post 100 Leaders.
