Johns - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, July 31, 1975 Funeral services for George T. Johns, of Jennings were held Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Calvary Baptist Church in Jennings under direction of Segura Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Rainey of ---- Grove Baptist Church of assisted in the services. Mr. Johns, a former resident of Tallulah, died at 4 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. He had been ill for many months prior to his death. Mr. Johns was district engineer for the ----- district of the Department of Public Works. A native of Crowville, he had been employed by the Department of Public Works since 1952. He served as district engineer with the Department in Tallulah until 1959, when he transferred to Jennings. He was a member of the board of directors of the Jeff Davis Academy and was a member of the John Birch Society. He received his engineering degree from LSU. Mr. Johns was a member of the Tallulah Lodge No. 308, F. & A. M.; the Louisiana Engineering Society and the Society of American Military Engineers. He is survived by his widow, the former Dorothy Landry of Lafayette; one daughter, Nadine Lynette Johns; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Johns of Tallulah and five sisters. They are Mrs. Madie Cupples of Monroe, Mrs. Ethel Winborne of Winnsboro, Mrs. Betty Greer and Mrs. Dorothy Segrest, both of Natchez, Miss., and Mrs. Virginia Carney of Tallulah
