Dale was born in Monroe, La. and moved around with his grandparents before
they settled in Shreveport, La. He married Lou Ann Wilkins in 1962. He
graduated from La. Tech and then from New Orleans Theological Seminary. He was
a minister of music for several years in different churches in Alabama,
Louisiana, and Texas. He decided to try his hand at teaching and began his
career in Shreveport, La. Dale had several jobs in his lifetime, but his
absolute favorite was teaching. He taught at Baptist Christian Academy in
Shreveport, McCall Senior High in Tallulah, and Chatham High School before he
retired. He moved to Tallulah in 1972. He was a member of First Methodist
Church in Tallulah and was a faithful member of the Men’s Bible Class.
Dale was very serious about his Christian faith and made sure that he
shared his faith with his family and friends. He enjoyed telling stories of his
past with anyone who would listen. He greeted everyone with a smile and was
willing to help anyone at any time. Dale loved to read his Bible and study
World War II air war history. In years past, he loved to hunt and garden, also.
Dale is preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Lila Pipes, his
stepfather, Harold Jones, his mother, Doris Pipes Jones, and his son-in-law,
