Bobbie Rachael Smith
Kincade - Madison Parish, Louisiana
From Shreveport Times
December 2, 2015
SHREVEPORT,
LA - Bobbie Rachael Smith Kincade lived a long and charitable life, full of
determination and pluck. Born December 23, 1927, in Tallulah, Bobbie moved with
her family to Shreveport at age 15, joined Noel Memorial Methodist Church, and
graduated from C. E. Byrd HS in 1945. She attended Louisiana Tech, where she
worked in the Tech library and played the title role in the stage play Rebecca,
before graduating in January 1949 with a B. A. in Education.
Bobbie
married Lee (Buddy) Kincade, a geologist, on April 7, 1950, and set up homes in
North and South Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, West Texas,
and the Texas Gulf Coast, before resettling back in Shreveport in 1971. Along
the way she worked as a social worker, taught school, sold real estate, joined
the local Methodist Church wherever the family lived, and made long and abiding
friends, many of whom have predeceased her, as has Lee, her husband of 64
years, in October 2014; her parents Joseph Clinton and Willie Cagle Smith; and
her older brothers and sister: Joe Smith, Bill Smith and Lorraine Loper.
Bobbie
is survived by daughter Lee Ann Horn, her husband Walter, and grandchildren
Marci and Matt; and son John Kincade, his wife Leslie, and grandsons Sean and
Lucas; sister Dixie Keeley; 12 nieces and nephews
including her beloved Shreveport nieces and nephew—Diane Smith, Sondra
Alexander and her husband Matt, Alison Rinehart, and Jeff Loper
and his wife Veronica; lifelong friend and cousin, Ramona Haire
and her family of Rayville; niece Audia Davis; and
cousin-in-law Joan Ledbetter of Tennessee.
Bobbie
was a long time member of the Friendly Circle and Mothers Sunday School Class
at Noel, the Shreveport Geological Society Auxiliary, and the Women's
Department Club. She traveled to England, Scotland, New England, the Pacific
Northwest, the Grand Canyon, the beaches of Acapulco, and even Cuba, but most
enjoyed time with family and friends in the mountains and at the beach. She
cherished her God and Savior, her marriage and late husband, her children and
grandchildren, her parents and family, her friends, her church, and her
independence.
Bobbie's
friends and family are invited to celebrate her life at a memorial service 11
am, Friday, December 4, at the Noel Memorial UMC Lane Chapel, 520 Herndon
Street, with an all-are-welcome luncheon at the Church following the service.
Memorials can be made to Noel Memorial UMC or the Broadmoor
Branch of the Shreve Memorial Library.
