Funeral services for
Jeanette Laird, 79, of Waverly, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January
16, 2021 at the Waverly Baptist Church with Bro. Marion Spence officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Waverly Baptist Church
from 5-7PM. Interment will be in the Sunflower Cemetery near Baskin, LA under
the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Pallbearers will be Dillon Odom, Travis Baker, Mark Scurria, Jon Wright, Randy
Morgan, Sonny Morgan and Glenn Terrell.
Ruby Jeanette Lewis Laird was born on November 12th, 1942 in Delhi, Louisiana
to Terrell and Ruby Lewis, who precedes her in death.. She married her high
school sweetheart John Wesley Laird on August 25, 1962. She was the devoted
mother of three children John Victor (Vic) Laird, Sidney Janell ( Jan), and
Holly Jean Laird. Jeanette is also survived by a brother, Doug Lewis and wife
Tina.
She became a follower of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a young age and
was a charter member of Waverly Baptist Church.
Jeanette was born to teach. Teaching was her true love after the Lord and her
family. She was a graduate of Tallulah High School, Southwestern Louisiana
University, and Northeast Louisiana University finishing her education with a
Masters Plus Thirty Hours Degree in Education with a special emphasis in
Reading.
Camping, traveling, crafting and spending quality time with her 7
grandchildren, Kelley, Jesse, Taylor, Lorrie, Dillon, Karson and Mattie and two
great grandchildren Caroline Yiannopoulos and Brooklyn Laird, who all were the
things she invested her free time. Her love for her Lord, family, church, work,
and students was beyond measure. Her joy came from giving her best effort in
everything that she was involved. Excellence and always doing the right thing
mattered so very much to her.
She will be remembered and treasured as a devoted wife, loving mother and
grandmother, loyal friend, and caring teacher.
