Betty Jean Hattaway
Neumann was born on February 4, 1937, in Union Parish, Louisiana, to Claude and
Lillie Ray Hattaway. She gained her heavenly crown peacefully on Monday,
September 18, 2023, at Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation in Tallulah,
Louisiana.
After moving to
Madison Parish at a young age, Betty made her life and living serving the
public and ensuring no one left hungry. From the Midway Café to Sears &
Roebuck to Neumann’s Restaurant on to Union 76 and Doug’s IGA, she was always
spirited and spunky. She may not have always remembered a name, but she never
forgot a smiling face.
Along with her
parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Donald O. Neumann; sister,
Eunice “Sis” Hattaway; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rouie Hattaway, Sr. and wife
Patsy, J.M. Hattaway and wife Nora Dean, Orion “Fat” Hattaway and wife JoAnn,
Madison Hattaway and wife Leona, and Wilbur Hattaway, and son-in-law, Garry M.
Gunn. She is also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Joyce Neumann
Guimbellot and husband James as well numerous nephews and a great niece.
Betty is survived by
a daughter, Becky Roy Gunn of Tallulah and stepson, Donnie Neumann of Tampa,
Florida; granddaughters, April Jones and fiancé Mike Coody and Brandi Gunn
Heard and husband Derek, all of Tallulah; great grandchildren, Kimber Baur,
Summer Heard, and Parker Heard, all of Tallulah; goddaughter, Carrie Lin
Hattaway Stafford husband Hunter and son Zach of Union Parish; sister-in-law,
Verda Hattaway of Tallulah; step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Carla, Dana, and
Shane Guimbellot and families. She is also survived by a host of nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services for
Betty will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 22, 2023, at
Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana, with Bro. Jason Lupo officiating.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery
in Tallulah.
Pallbearers will be
Ryman Busby, Todd Moore, Patrick Cobb, Hunter Stafford, Phillip Hattaway, and
David Neumann. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Hattaway, Eddie Hattaway,
Jimmie Hattaway, Randy Ramshur, Jack Hite, Ted Busby, Paul Harrop, Dan Copes,
Carl Smith, Phillip “Coon” Scurria, Woody McDonald, Kenny McDonald, Dewey
Laird, Gary Hattaway, and Freddie Brooks.
The family would like
to express their thanks and gratitude for the wonderful care given by Dr.
Albritton, Crossroads Hospice and Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation, as well as
Dr. T.A. Neumann, Candice Sevier, Rusty Peterson, Emily Manning, Amanda Cobb
Wallace, and KeKe Marks.
