Irma Jean Newell, 81,
went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 24, 2016 after a long battle with
Alzheimer's and Dementia. She had spent the last year of her life with her
daughter Shirley in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 9am – 11am, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Baldwin-Lee
Funeral Home in Pearl with funeral services at 11am in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be at 2pm Tuesday in Silver Cross Cemetery, Tallulah, LA.
Jean was born April 29, 1935 in Wisner, LA the eldest daughter of Jeff Martin
Wilson, Sr. and Minnie Mae (Ferguson) Wilson from Tallulah, LA. She married
John Riley Newell, Jr., November 8, 1953 and they were married 61 years. She
was a life-long resident of Pearl, MS. She was a Charter member of McLaurin
Heights Baptist Church, a member of Southside Assembly of God Church and
Crossgates Baptist Church.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents and husband along with brothers,
Herbert Milton Wilson, (Jackson, MS), Harvey William (Pete) Wilson,
(Sacramento, CA), and Charles Edward Wilson, (Sondheimer, LA).
She is survived by 3 children, Linda Marie Walker, (Brandon, MS), John DeWayne
Newell, (Spring Hill, TN), Shirley Jean Tansy, (Indianapolis, IN); siblings,
Jeff Martin Wilson,( Atlanta, GA), Molly YuVonne Wilson,(Byram, MS) and Ralph
Morris Wilson,(Shreveport, LA); grandchildren, Tricia Dawn Lease, Bradley
Elliot Scott, Jennifer Leigh Chaney, Christopher Glenn Walker, Christina Marie
Walker; and 5 great grandchildren.
