Billy J. Peebles, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Delta, LA, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, surrounded by his family, at the age of 83. He was born on May 20, 1941, in Philadelphia, MS, to the late Wesley Peebles and Thelma Peebles Day.

Billy dedicated 27 years of service to Yellow Freight before retirement in 1998. He was a devout member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and an avid outdoorsman who had a passion for deer hunting and bass fishing.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Helen Huff Peebles of Delta, La, son, Billy J. Peebles, Jr. (Suzy) of Delta, LA, and daughter, Vickie Peebles Boler of Vicksburg, MS, sister Thelma LaRue Cobb, brothers Buddy Ray Peebles (Gwen) and Gene Wesley Peebles, 4 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather Thomas Ellis Day, brothers Carl Peebles, Jackie Peebles and Buster Peebles.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg, MS with Bro. Billy Brumfield officiating. Visitation will begin 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy J. Peebles, III (Trey), Corbin Coody, Sam Kennedy, Robert Coody, Mike Wicker, and David Beckham.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Andress, Marshall Thomas, and Mickey Blackmon.
