Pearl Ellen
(Murphree) Perkins, age 96, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022 at home in
Rogers, Arkansas with her daughter, Patsy Roycroft and granddaughter, Kimberly
Roycroft by her side. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 14 years ago.
She was born the youngest of six siblings in Coffeeville, MS on September 4,
1926 to Frank Murphree and Blanche (Davis) Murphree. As a young child, her
family moved to Tallulah, Louisiana where she graduated from Tallulah High
School in 1944. After graduation, she moved to Monroe where she began her
career as a bookkeeper. She worked as a bookkeeper until 1971.
She met and married Don Perkins in 1952 in Shreveport. To this union three
children were born. Patricia (Patsy), Dean, and Cynthia. They enjoyed 53 years
of marriage prior to Don's death in 2005. Pearl loved to fish, often catching
the largest fish or the most fish. She loved gardening and working in the yard.
Many friends and neighbors enjoyed the fruits of her harvest. Her yards were
beautifully maintained, not a weed in sight and there was an array of beautiful
flowers, trees, and shrubs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, and Don. She is
survived by her daughter, Patsy Roycroft of the home in Rogers, Arkansas, Dean
(Debbie) Perkins of Broaddus TX, and Cynthia (Michael Shook) Perkins of Vashon,
Washington and her beloved granddaughter, Kimberly Roycroft, also of the home.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of
friends from Rogers who all loved "Granny."
Visitation is Friday, October 28, 2022 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500
Southside Dr., in Shreveport from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with services
beginning at noon. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's
Association, Rogers Humane Society, or charity
of your choice. Arrangements are by Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
