Imogene Copes Pollard - Madison Parish, Louisiana
Blair-Stubbs
Funeral Home Mexia, Texas January 10, 2025
On January 10, 2025, Imogene Copes Pollard was called to be with her Lord
and Savior and reunited with other family members that have gone before
her.
Imogene was born on March 4, 1935 in Warden, Louisiana to Francis Gritton
and Jamie Olivia (Coleman) Copes. She married William Edgar “Buddy” Pollard on
April 12, 1963 in Tallulah, Louisiana. She taught at Madison Parish School in
Tallulah, Louisiana for 40 plus years prior to retirement, primarily teaching
the first grade.
Imogene’s love for children made her many years of teaching a job that
brought her much pleasure and satisfaction. During these years, she was also a
loving preacher’s wife and mother, raising her children and always being
supportive of Buddy and his endeavors. Her life was devoted to being a
Christian, loving her family, and helping others.
Throughout Imogene’s life, she never lost her mother and grandmother’s
instincts of wanting to take care of her family even when she was no longer
able to do the things she once did. She enjoyed sewing, especially dresses for
the girls, reading, and watching TV.
Imogene moved to the Mexia area, a few years ago, to be near her daughter,
Penny and family. After relocating, she became a member of the Prairie Grove
Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Jamie Copes;
husband, William E. “Buddy” Pollard; son, John Mark Pollard; and sister, Cindy
Allee.
Imogene is survived by her daughters, Penny Burkeen and husband, Daniel
and Libby Savage and husband, David; grandchildren, Josh (Shadie) Savage,
Hayleigh (Paul) Leon, Kaitlyn (Matthew) Williams, Lucas Savage, Amanda Burkeen,
Fallon Burkeen, Troy (Ebben) Burkeen, Dan (Sarah) Burkeen, and Ryan Burkeen; 5
great grandchildren; brother, Francis G. “Junie” (Bea) Copes; sister, Jamie
Carolyn Martin, Ruby Martin, Kathy (Tommy) Dobbs, Sandra (Jimmy) Monroe,
Patricia (David) Pruitt; sister-in-law Babs (Richard “Dick”) Sevier; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in the
Prairie Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Clifton Jones officiating. Graveside
services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, in the Silver Cross Cemetery in
Tallulah, Louisiana.
