Nancy Carolyn Coad Rich was born March
28, 1920 to Mary Ogden Sugg Coad and Dr. Bert Raymond Coad in Tallulah,
Louisiana and departed this life in Austin, Texas on June 3, 2014. She married
Ralph H. Rich of Stuttgart, Arkansas on October 27, 1939. They were married 71
years when he died in 2010. They made their home in Austin since 1946.
Her life was spent caring for family
and friends. Carolyn was a talented seamstress who used her many sewing gifts
to create her daughters clothes, many quilts, afghans,
pillows and pictures that her family will always cherish. She was a devoted
mother, grandmother and loyal friend to all who knew her gentle caring spirit.
She is preceded in death by her
husband, Ralph, daughter Carol Rich Baker (Don), parents, sister Nell Coad
Reynolds and brothers Stanley Ogden Coad and Hunter Sugg
Coad.
She is survived by daughter Jane Rich Smith
(Bill), son Charles Coad Rich (Susie), son-in-law Don B. Baker, grandchildren
Michael Rich Smith (Shirley), Mark August Smith, David Brian Baker, Chris Rich
Baker (Alicia), David Michael Rich, Allison Catherine Rich, nieces Nancy
Reynolds Bratteli and Ann Coad Harris and nephews
Steven Bert Coad and Parker Turner Coad.
The Committal Service will be held at
St. Matthews Episcopal Church 8134 Mesa Dr. at 1:30pm on Saturday, June 14. Her
ashes will be interred in the Memorial Garden with a reception to follow. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthews Memorial Garden.
