Ralph H. Rich Ralph passed away on
November 14, 2010 in Austin, Texas. He was born December 1, 1914 to Clarence
and Myrtle Rich
in Stuttgart, Arkansas.
He was a great husband, father, grandfather, friend, lifelong golfer and
sportsman. He graduated from Monticello A&M
in engineering and
played baseball.
He married Carolyn Coad of Tallulah,
LA. In 1946 they moved to Austin. He worked for the Federal Highway
Administration, overseeing the
building of Texas interstate
highways. He retired after 37 years of service.
He is survived by his
wife of 71 years, Carolyn; daughters, Carol Baker (Don) and Jane Smith (Bill)
and son Charles Rich (Susie); and
grandchildren,
Brian and Chris Baker (Alicia), Michael (Thilde) and
Mark Smith, David and Allison Rich. He is predeceased by his brothers
Clarence Dee and
Charles, twin brother Rollie and sisters Dorothy Prop
and Donna Pierce.
A service will be
held Saturday, November 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Matthews Episcopal Church
Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Ralph's name to
the St. Matthews Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, 8134 Mesa Drive, Austin,
Texas 78759
