Lorine
Rodgers; Lansing, age 83, passed away February 4, 2017. She was born
September 25, 1933, in Tallulah, Louisiana.
Lorine worked for the State
of Michigan for 28 years. She was a long-term member of Paradise Missionary
Baptist Church and was an active member of her community.
She is survived by
her children, Desma Rodgers, Joyce (Jerome)
Shoemaker, Herschel (Verna) Rodgers, Phyllis (Anthony) Winston, and Keith
(Ruby) Rodgers; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Elijah
Knight; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
parents and four brothers.
The funeral service
will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Paradise
Missionary Baptist Church, 3403 Franette Rd.,
Lansing. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Her family will
receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Estes-Leadley
Greater Lansing Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made
to her church's education fund.
