Jolene
McCready Roper, age 87, of Atkins, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at Arkansas
Hospice River Valley Home. She was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Tallulah, La., to
James and Lela McCready.
In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Felton C. Roper; five
brothers, Burt, David, Orvell Lee, Kenneth and Ralph McCready; two sisters,
Hazel Knight and Mary Spruill; and her beloved dog, Julie.
She is survived by a
son, Ronald B. Roper; five daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Sam Uchello,
Beverly Simms, Ginell and Eddie Boudreaux, Annette Cockrell and Angela and Jeff
Petty; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Arnell and David Nightingale and
Virginia Strickland; seven grandchildren, Kelly Roper, Katherine Ice, Josh,
Jeremiah and Jessica Simms, Sam Cockrell and Zachary Petty; six
great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service
will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Rock Springs Community Church in Hector, with
Mr. James Petty officiating, and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service
of Russellville.
