SOUTH BEND - Henrietta Z. Sanders
"Pie," 85, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December
15, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Henrietta was born in
Tallulah, Louisiana, September 19, 1928, to D.C. Gulley and Letha (McCoy)
Gulley.
Henrietta was a
member of Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church of South Bend for
approximately 65 years. Henrietta, along with her late husband, Joseph A.
Sanders, was founder and co-owner of SANCO Distributing Inc., South Bend. SANCO
was founded in 1984. Henrietta was an excellent cook, enjoyed spending time
with her family and decorating her home. With her late husband, Joseph, they
travelled to practically all of the States in the U.S.A; also out of the country.
She loved plants and flowers.
Her survivors include
a son, John A. "Tony" Sanders; two daughters: Brenda J. (Jimmie)
Smith, Constance "Connie" M. Sanders, all of South Bend, Indiana;
step-daughter, Judith "Judy" Williams of Niles, Michigan; son-in-law,
Danny R. McNamee Sr. of South Bend; daughter-in-law, Aretha Sanders of
Richmond, Indiana; grandsons, Danny R. McNamee Jr., Corey McNamee, both of
South Bend, Ronald A. (Tonya) Sanders Jr. of Richmond, Indiana, and Christopher
Sanders of Orlando, Florida; granddaughters: Alicia J. Dixon of Washington,
D.C., and Dana (Marcus) Johnson of South Bend; granddaughter-in-law, Tara
McNamee of South Bend; great-grandsons: Ronald A. Sanders III of Richmond,
Indiana, Davonte "Tré"
McNamee, Cordell McNamee and Marquis Johnson, all of South Bend;
great-granddaughters: Tayshia Sanders, LaRon Sanders, both of Richmond, Indiana, Alexis McNamee, Alayshia McNamee and Markéja
Johnson, all of South Bend; great-great-granddaughter, Akalynn
Varner of Richmond; sisters: Rozelia (George) Hill of
South Bend, Susie Chandler of Fort Washington, Maryland, Deloris Franklin of
Washington, D.C., and Linda Franklin of Temple Hills, Maryland; sister-in-law,
Evelyn Baugh of South Bend; special niece, Carmen Boyden of South Bend.
Henrietta is also survived by several other nieces and nephews, great-nieces
and great-nephews; along with other relatives and friends. Henrietta was
preceded in death by her parents, D.C. Gulley and Letha A. Franklin; husband,
Joseph "Joe" Anderson Sanders; son, Ronald "Ronnie" A.
Sanders Sr.; daughter, Cordelia "Cordy" McNamee; stepson, Joseph "Little Joe"
Allen Sanders; sisters: Gloria Boyden and Gwendolyn "Gwen" Franklin.
Services for
Henrietta Z. Sanders will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013, in Greater St.
John Missionary Baptist Church, 101 N. Adams Street, South Bend. Visitation at
12 noon, funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
