Martha Boney Sevier - Madison Parish, Louisiana

Services for Mrs. Martha Boney Sevier, 79, of Tallulah will be at 2 p.m. today at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Tom Wade officiating.

 

Mrs. Sevier died Tuesday at Mississippi Baptist Hospital in Jackson after a long illness.

 

Burial will be in Silver Cross Cemetery under direction of Crothers Funeral Home.

 

A lifelong resident of Madison Parish, Mrs. Sevier was born August 13, 1904. She was the daughter of Rena Cox Boney and Richard K. Boney of Duckport Plantation.

 

She served for many years as Selective Service administrator for Madison Parish, and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was very active in community affairs, and was responsible for many of Tallulah's beautification projects.

 

Survivors include her husband, W.P. Sevier Jr., a longtime mayor of Tallulah and retired president of Tallulah State Bank and, Trust Co.; one son, Richard P Sevier of Midland, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Sherrill Pirone of Lexington, Kentucky, and Mrs. Dorothy Elliott of El

Dorado, Ark., six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Pallbearers will be C.H. Todd, Shields Bray, Jack Millikin, Carroll Regan, Bill Colligan, Louis Nettles, Dr. Joseph Yerger and Henry C. Sevier Jr.

 

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. H.S. Provine, J.M. Gilfoil, Wayne Harkey, T.E. McNeel, James D. Sevier, J.G. Wyly and M.W. Washburn.
