Ronnie Owen Stampley, Sr. was born June 11, 1947 in Tallulah, Louisiana
to James E. Stampley, Sr. and Merle Josephine
Slaughter Stampley. He resided in Lake Providence and
graduated at Lake Providence High School. He then attended Northeast Louisiana
College. He later joined the United States Air Force and served 1 ½ years in
Vietnam during his eight year term.
In June 1969 Ronnie married Hazel Mosley of Tallulah. They spent six months at
Otis AFB on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He was transferred to Keesler
AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi, where they remained for four years. During this
time, they were blessed with a son, Ronnie Stampley,
Jr. In 1971, he re-enlisted and was transferred to Mather AFB in Sacramento,
California. It was there they were blessed with a daughter, Tina Annette Stampley. He chose to not re-enlist and was discharged in
1975, when he brought his family home to Tallulah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Wheelhorse”
Stampley, Sr. and Josephine Stampley,
two sisters, Evelyn Breeden and Sheila Moseley, his father-in-law, John W.
Mosley, and mother-in-law, Tinny Mosley, and two sisters-in-law, Peggy Mosley
and Billie Jean Mosley.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Hazel Mosley Stampley,
his son, Ronnie O. Stampley, Jr. and wife, Marcie,
his daughter, Tina Stampley Jones, his brother, J E Stampley, Jr., his brother-in-law, Robert Mosley, 5
granddaughters, 2 great granddaughters, 4 great grandsons, and numerous nieces
and nephews.
