Mildred
Roundtree Strickland, 91, of Marble Falls, formerly of Uvalde, Texas, died
February 12, 2023 at her home.
She was born June 20, 1931, in Newellton, Louisiana where she spent her
childhood with her sisters Virginia and Wilma.
After graduating Newellton High School, she attended LSU, graduating with a
degree in education, in 1952 and then later received a Masters Degree from Sul
Ross University.
She taught middle and high school classes in Louisiana and Texas for over 30
years.
After retiring in the 1990's, her next love was volunteering. Those activities
included Marble Falls Public Library Thrift Store, Highland Lakes Service
League, Granite Hills Luncheon, Highland Lakes Garden Club, Daughters of the
American Revolution, Delta Kappa Gamma and Highland Lakes Retired Teachers
Association.
Mildred married Rev. James Arthur Strickland in Tallulah, Louisiana on June 11,
1954. They had three children, Kathryne Ann Knight (John), James Arthur
Strickland, Jr. (Carolyn) and John H. Strickland (Jennifer).
She is survived by her husband Arthur Strickland and her three children, along
with grandchildren Amanda Reeves (Andy) James Arthur Strickland, II (Mandy, his
fiance'), Kellie Conaway (Andrew), John H. Strickland, Jr., Troy S. Strickland
and Shelby Trainer (Brady), and six great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held February 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Andrews
Presbyterian Church, Marble Falls, Texas and burial will be at Lakeland Hills
Memorial Park, Burnet,
