Funeral services will
be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 in the Delhomme
Chapel of the Flowers for Helen Keller Waters, 83, who passed away Monday,
January 7, 2008 at Cornerstone South. Brother Lance Bennett, Minister of
Riverside Church of Christ will officiate the services
and will be assisted by Brother Danny Hebert, Outreach Minister. Interment will
take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in
Lafayette.
Helen, the daughter
of Richard Littleton Keller and the former Vera Crawford, was a native of
Vicksburg, MS and a resident of Lafayette. She loved her church and was a
faithful member all her life. She also loved to sing and sang with the Soundwaves for many years. Helen was a caring and devoted
nurse, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be sadly
missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Survivors include two
daughters, Janet N. Norwood and husband, James R. of Lafayette, LA, and Elaine
W. Johnson and husband, Leon of Natchitoches, LA; her son, Kenneth D. Waters
and wife, Judy of Ville Platte, LA; daughter-in-law, Melanie Waters;
grandchildren, James, Jason Justin, Jeremy, and Jon Norwood, Dean, Kendon, and Darla Johnson, Molly Fouts,
David, Doug and Michael Waters, Ashley Barfield; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by the father of her children, Duane Waters; son, Donald L. Waters; her
parents; and grandson, Eric Waters.
The family requests
visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 3:00 pm to
9:00 pm and on Wednesday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be
Michael Waters, David Waters, Doug Waters, James Norwood, Justin Norwood, Jason
Norwood, Jeremy Norwood, and Jon Norwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean
Johnson, Molly Fouts, Kendon
Johnson, Ashley Barfield, and Darla Johnson. In lieu of flowers, the family has
requested donations be made to Alzheimer's Research Fund, 1236 Ginger Crescent,
Virginia Beach, VA 23453 or the charity of your choice.
