John Durwood White, affectionately known

Baptist Church of Winnsboro.
In his community, Durwood was a proud
member of the local Farmer's Market Association in the Winnsboro area and was
fondly known to his neighbors as "the chicken man." A strong man of
faith, he was honest and liked to laugh and feed people. Durwood's family, his
"work" family and his church family meant everything to Durwood; he
leaves a legacy of faith, friendship and love for others and will be deeply
missed.
Durwood is survived by his five
children, sons Corey White and his wife Julie, of Houston, TX and Jack White,
of Munson, FL and daughters Cindy White, of Hammond, LA, Bonnie Richard and her
husband Richie, of Lafayette, LA and Verna Pittman, also of Munson, FL; his
daughter-in-law, Malaisa White, of Brookhaven, MS; his brother and
sister-in-law, Don White and his wife Erna Faye, of Baton Rouge, LA; 17 grandchildren;
25 great-grandchildren, with one "on-the-way"; two
great-great-grandchildren, with one "on-the-way" and numerous dear
nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son,
Neal White; two brothers, Jack and Wayne White and his only sister, Patsy
Priest.
The family wishes to thank Durwood's
great-niece, Maggie Warner, all of his work friends from the pipeline who were
his second family and his church family in Winnsboro, as well as the staff of
Heart of Hospice, LLC in Lafayette and all of the other medical teams involved
in his care, for the compassion shown to Durwood and his family.
