Thomas Edward Wixson
December 31, 1937 - February 14, 2017
Thomas Edward (Tommy) Wixson died February 14, 2017, at the age of 79. He was
born to the union of Vardaman and Wilma Bruce Wixson on December 31, 1937. He is preceded in death by his
parents.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Ernestine Stewart Wixson; his two children, Michele Wixson
Robicheaux and her husband, Paul of Broussard,
Louisiana and Stewart Bruce Wixson and his wife, Kim
of Cottonport, Louisiana. Grandchildren are Sean Robicheaux
and his wife, Jessica, Kayla Robicheaux Boughrara and husband, Brandon, Mason Stewart Wixson, Cameron Robicheaux,
Meghan Robicheaux, Anna Blair Wixson,
Peyton Robicheaux, and Cy Thomas Wixson.
Great-grandchildren are Colton Robicheaux and Camilly Boughrara. He is also
survived by his two sisters, Suzanne Wixson Wilson
and husband, Jerry of Tallulah and Mickie DeMoss of Baton Rouge, two nieces, Angie Deckelman Rogan and husband, Lloyd and Leigh Deckelman Trichell and husband,
Don, and great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives, as well as his
two wonderful caretakers, Jackie Guice and Raven
Sanders.
He shared his love of nature with his own children and those children in the
community through Madison Dixie Youth League, Tallulah Academy School
activities, along with hunting and fishing with his children, grandchildren,
and friends. His favorite teams were Pat Summitt's
Lady Vols, Louisiana Tech Lady Bulldogs, and LSU Lady
Tiger basketball programs-following his sister, Mickie.
Tommy is a United States Marine, having served 1957 to 1960, stationed in
Hawaii and Japan. He was a Jet Engine Mechanic and participated in the Top Gun
competition in Yuma, Arizona. After his discharge, he flew aerial application
for Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gaumnitz at Farm Air Service and
retired from Madison Parish Sheriff's Office as the pilot of helicopter and supercub. He was also affiliated with Tallulah Ford Motor
Company and Paxton Chevrolet car dealerships. Tommy served as assistant and
administrator of Christian Acres Juvenile Boy's facility and worked with those
children and devoted workers for 19 years. For 50 plus years, Tommy has been a
member of the Masonic Lodge, was a member of American Legion, and served for
the Village of Richmond as Alderman and Chief of Police.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at First
United Methodist Church in Tallulah with the service following at 10:00 A.M.,
with Bro. Crawford Williams, Bro. Fred Fulton, and Bro. Leroy Robinson
officiating. Burial will be at the Stewart Family Cemetery in Sailes, Louisiana at 3:00 P.M.
Pallbearers will be Robert Charles Brown, James Vaughn, Charlie Thompson, John
Robert Gaumnitz, Fred Gaumnitz,
Bob Lynn, James Albert Martin, and Eric Givens.
Memorials may be made to the Pat Summitt Foundation,
Knoxville, Tn., Tallulah First United Methodist Church, or Tallulah Academy,
Wood St., Richmond, La.
