Funeral services for
Mr. Roy Douglas “Butch” Wroten, age 78, will be held Monday, June 20, 2022, at
First Baptist Church in Tallulah, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 9:30
AM followed by the funeral service at 10:00 AM with Bro. Jay Parker and Bro. Jason
Lupo officiating and music by Mrs. Diane Collins. Burial will be in Silver
Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral
Home.
Mr. Wroten passed
away peacefully at his home in Prairieville, Louisiana, Friday, June 17, 2022.
He was born in Tallulah, Louisiana, on September 8, 1943, to Roy Lee Eugene and
Lela Grace Rabb Wroten. He was raised in Tallulah and graduated from Tallulah
High School where he was a member of “The Funky 5”! He served his country for
three years in the U.S. Army. He worked for Illinois Central and Kansas City
Southern Railroads, where he was known as “Run Down”, retiring after 35 years
of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Tallulah, and he
was a member of the Moose Lodge in Summerville, Tennessee. He was
fortunate enough to get to spend the last eight months of his life in south
Louisiana with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Wroten is
preceded in death by two wives, Judy Lawrence Wroten and Janet Clark Wroten;
his parents, Roy and Lela Wroten; two sisters, Carolyn Wroten and Lee Ann
Arbuckle; and one brother, Ronnie Wesley Wroten.
Mr. Wroten is
survived by his son, Michael Douglas Wroten; daughter, Kimberlee Wroten
Corley and husband Bruce; sister, Emily Ruth Ervin; grandchildren, Quinton
Ray Corley and wife Nicole, Meghan Renee LeBlanc and husband Reece, Abby
Lynn Wroten, and Wesley Albert Wroten; great grandchildren, Grant, Effie
Kate, Memphis Michael, Lela Judith, Louie George, and Teddy; numerous
nieces and nephews; and his best friend/puppy, Axle.
Pallbearers will be
Quinton Ray Corley, Arch Yerger, Wade Hargrave, Bill Arbuckle, Justin Arbuckle,
and John Robert Gaumnitz. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Rabb, Bruce Corley,
Darryl Ellerbee, and Mack Marsh.
